Be My Muse

So my friend Sara has been tweaking this lovely poem she wrote in a sweet form I converted her to (ha HA!) called a sestina.

Well, talking to her about it really makes me want to write one of my own. I need a mental break anyway, and a sestina is something completely different. Uses different muscles.

What I need are nouns. Just throw them out there. Try to be specific. Proper nouns are okay, but I can't write a sestina with all proper nouns . . . Well, I could, but I don't want to. So comment on this entry and throw out a noun or two. I'll pick six of them and write a sestina, and then I'll post it here.

I've been out of commission for a while. I got a toothache and an infection, and then I had an adverse reaction to the painkiller. Ugh. It's been a rough weak. But I'm starting to feel better now, and my dentist is kind of cute (but I think he's younger than me), so I'm not totally dreading having to go back in a couple of weeks to get the tooth taken out.

I spent a lot of time on the couch. Watched loads of 24 episodes. I had the TV on pretty much all day long, either to distract myself from pain or nausea, or to entertain me when I was too tired to do anything else. I even watched soaps. (No cable.) I don't think it ever crossed Mom's mind when she decided to work from home that one of the hazards might be the sound of me puking in the background while she was doing a phone interview. Good thing she had the door shut.

I'm so glad not to be sick anymore, but having no energy is frustrating. I went with Mom on an errand this morning, and when we went to lunch, I felt like dropping my head in my plate.

Ooh, I'm kicking butt on Jeopardy! tonight. But anyway, be sure to comment and leave me some nouns!
